News from the President.....

Fellow Rabunites,

I hope you were at the Rabun Rendezvous.  If you weren’t, you missed a great time.  It was fun to see so many old friends and to make new ones.  There were the usual fun times pickin the pig, listening to the Foxfire Boys, participating in the raffles and auctions, and eating the great Dillard House fare.  David Cannon’s program was filled with beautiful photos and neat stories.

However, one of the highlights was the recognition of Bill Kelly for his decades of service to the Rabun Chapter of TU.  Bill is a very special man.  He’s quite an outdoorsman and a colorful character in every regard, but the award was for his untiring contributions to the Chapter.  No matter what we are doing for the Chapter, the kids, or the creeks, Bill is there doing his share, and for that we thank him.  We gave Bill the “Old Rugged Creel” award (the name of the award doesn’t have any real significance other than it just seemed to fit).  Thanks Bill.

Now we turn our attention to the year ahead.  We have lots of challenges and opportunities.  We’ll meet for breakfast at the Dillard House at 8am on Saturday February 6 to assess our finances and plan our year.  All members are welcome.  You don’t have to make a reservation; just show up.  You’ll get a better understanding of the scope of all that our Chapter does over the course of a year, and it will help you find ways you can contribute and can enjoy the fun times.  Y’all come!

Regards, Larry
