The Mission of Trout Unlimited is to conserve, protect and restore North America’s trout and

salmon fisheries and their watersheds....

Please browse around our site to find out what the Rabunites have been up to lately...

Check Our Calendar for upcoming events, look at the Photo Gallery  to see where we have been,

east or west of Hiawassee, and read Tight Lines, our newsletter!

Steoka Creek Monitoring: The Rabunites received a grant from "Embrace-a-Stream" to

partner with the Chattooga Conservancy as they monitor the fecal coliform in Steoka Creek.

Yes - that is our downtown Clayton stream....  We have a serious problem with the sewage lines;

they often break and release raw sewage into what could be an excellent Trout stream.

Click on the link to see the sample count.  Stekoa Creek - fecal.xls

The spreadsheet was assembled by Rabun TU using data collected by Chattooga Conservancy.

This is a serious problem, thanks for doing what you can to support a change in how we

process sewage in Rabun County.  We need volunteers to drive the samples to the lab in

Jefferson, and of course, we could always use more $$ toward this effort.

Please contact Doug Adams if you are willing to volunteer.

In Memory of Tom Landreth

http://www.tom-landreth.com/

Knowing of Tom’s love of trout fishing and the Chattooga backcountry; June, Lisa and Kelli have given their permission to establish the Tom Landreth Memorial Fund at Rabun TU with all donations used to help pay for the Chattooga backcountry helicopter stocking program.  What a nice way for the family to allow us to honor Tom.

As a small token of remembrance, each donor will be mailed 3 flies from one of Tom’s fly boxes.

Carry one of his flies with you when visiting those places Tom loved.

Please make donation check payable to: Rabun TU  For: Tom’s Memorial Fund  Mail to: Rabun TU, PO Box 65, Rabun Gap, GA 30568

A special thanks to June for the generous donations of some of Tom's favorite things to the Rabun Chapter for the Rendezvous and beyond....      We love you...

NOTE:  The Landreth fund has grown thanks to your generous donations.  NGTO - North Georgia Trout On Line - (a friend and partner in conservation) has issued a $1,000 matching challenge for Tom's fund... thanks guys!  If you want to donate through them go to www.NGTO.org

All donations to Rabun TU (a Federal Tax Exempt 501(c) 3 non-profit) are tax deductible
